What is a conversion line shaft?

The Rockford Drive Line conversion line shaft is simply a NEW prop shaft that has been manufactured to replace the existing design shaft on several applications.  The reason it is called a conversion is because we have designed our shaft to use universal joints and slip yokes.  Shown below is one of the comparisons of the Rockford Drive Line conversion shaft to OEM.

JUST A FEW REASONS WHY NOT TO BUY A REBUILT LINE SHAFT

THE FORD ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT DESIGN LINE SHAFT ASSEMBLY IS A BALL & CAGE
HOUSING THAT IS PRE-GREASED AND REQUIRES A RUBBER BOOT TO KEEP THE
LUBRICATION INTO THE HOUSING.  WHEN THE BOOT FAILS THE HOUSING
WILL LOOSE GREASE AND ALLOW DIRT AND WATER TO CONTAMINATE
THE HOUSING.  THIS WILL RESULT IN FAILURE OF THE LINE SHAFT.

THE UNIVERSAL JOINTS WE USE ARE 1310 SERIES, THIS ALLOWS FOR MORE TORQUE
AND ARE VERY DURABLE.  THE UNIVERSAL JOINTS ARE SERVICEABLE, MEANING YOU
CAN GREASE THEM YOURSELF INSTEAD OF HAVING THEM SERVICED BY A GARAGE.
THEIR ARE NO RUBBER BOOT SEALS TO FAIL.

THE SLIP YOKE IS ALSO GREASABLE AND PROVIDES THE PLUNGING ACTION
REQUIRED.  ALL SHAFTS ARE HIGH SPEED BALANCED PREVENTING ANY
DRIVE SHAFT VIBRATIONS.
